ASSIGNMENT: BIO CUBE BLOG πŸ‘Ό

SUMMARY:: 🟦πŸŸ₯

- This is my second Bio Cube Blog. . .  woah! Anyways. . . In the start of summer, during summer bridge, we started our Bio Cube assignment. The Bio Cube is basically a cube all about. . .  ourselves!! There are 6 sides to our bio cube and each one tells something about you. The six sides consist of your Name, your Background, your Personality, your Significance, your Obstacles, and a Quote that you relate you. When we started this assignment in the summer we were given our bio cube planning sheets. The bio cube planning sheets basically helped us figure out and draft what we wanted to put on each side, and what was on each side. For instance, on the quote box on the bio cube planning sheet, you got to write a quote you relate / live by. After we finished writing on our draft in our bio cube planning sheets, we shared what we wrote in different boxes each day we each other in the circle. On some days we even did multiple boxes. After completing the planning sheet, drafting, and sharing, we worked on designing our bio cubes on Canva. There isn't any limit to what you can put on your bio cube to decorate it . . . however the words that were on each side are the most important. After we finished, we printed it out, cut, and then taped it to our box that we received during Summer Workdays. The box was flat and we had to fold it into shape before we taped our sides on. Then we continued to work on it until the End of Summer Field Trip. Our bio cubes were required to board the bus that day. At the beach during End of Summer Field Trip, we got to see everyone's completed bio cubes and we even got to share with an Alumni. I shared with Gabby that day. Then later on during the second week of school, we began to share our bio cubes with our periods and the other eighth graders . . .  When we shared different sides, we moved locations. We started in A101, then moved to the cafe, and then the stage. The purpose of sharing our bio cubes was to teach us about public speaking, volume, and voices and how there can be obstacles when speaking.

HIGHTLIGHTS & LOWLIGHTS::

- Some highlights about this assignment for me was designing our bio cubes and sharing with each other and going to different places when we were sharing. Designing my bio cube has to be my favorite part because I literally enjoyed decorating my bio cube with all the things I love and enjoy. From Lego characters to Nyan cat, and even random fishes and animals!! Compared to my bio cube from last year, I love it way more. . .  it's cooler in my opinion! Sharing our bio cubes and going to the different areas when we shared has to be another highlight also. I enjoyed racing my period and the 8th graders to who would get to share first. . . I also enjoyed speaking in front of everyone! I even saw improvement in myself which I'm really happy about. A lowlight of this assignment has to be when I was taping it. . . I was lowkey struggling and like I needed to try my best to not mess it up lol!! I'm not mad about how the taping came out but it could've been better if I knew how to tape it straight enough. . . but It's fine because I worked hard on it, and it doesn't look half bad at all!

LESSON(s) LEARNED::

- A lesson I learned is the more you do something, the better you get at it. This can go for public speaking. After a year of being in the leadership program, when we had to share our bio cubes again, being honest I was somewhat nervous because I was afraid, I didn't improve at all. However, when I got on the stage and spoke and saw my period giving me a thumbs up . . . I was genuinely surprised because last year the most I got was a sidewards thumbs up!! And Ariya even said that they could hear me clearly over the airplane>??? I was literally so surprised. Made me wonder why I even doubted myself in the first place! I guess another lesson I learned was to be more confident too.

GLOs ::

1. Self-directed learner: I worked on my bio cube during my own time and didn't have trouble understanding the assignment.
2. Community contributor: I helped my peers when they were taping their boxes and even cut tape for them so they could just grab.
3. Complex Thinker: I had ideas beforehand about what I would write on my bio cube a week in advance. In addition, as I decorated, I thought about things I enjoyed.
4. Quality Producer: I did my best in decorating my bio cube and making it unique and stand out. I wanted mines to stand out with bright colors. . . I always liked bright colors as a kid :3
5. Effective Communicator: I was an effective communicator because not only was I able to help my peers but as we shared, I was able to speak loudly and clearly.
6. Effective & Ethical User of Tech: I used Canva to produce my design for my bio cube and even used my phone to work on it when I was out at the mall or sitting around waiting to be picked up.
