Summary… — ππ
This first quarter wasn't all that bad. It actually flew by…throughout this quarter I realized Leadership really affects me a lot! Like if I didn’t join Leadership, I’d probably be super-duper bored throughout this entire quarter. Also, thanks to Leadership I have a lot of friends too! Really! I never thought I’d ever have so many friends. Especially ones I trust and am comfortable with. Within these many weeks of school, I learned how to do the three morning jobs. Which are IDs, Music and TV. In my opinion, the hardest job is TV…cause like if someone forgets to do their intro, we're going to have to use an intro prepared beforehand or make a very rushed one…Moving on, I went on TV this quarter! Instead on next quarter…YAYYY!! It was actually really not scary! In addition to learning these three jobs, we worked on our bio cube this quarter. We mainly focused on how to share using five simple steps, and how to improve your volume. ALSO!! I ran for office! I ran for secretary and thanks to all of my friends, I managed to be voted for secretary.... YIPPEE!! Another thing that occurred this quarter was flag football or intramurals. It was really hot during intramurals…LIKE I WAS SWEATING SO MUCH…and I got sunburned... Anyways!! Team flag football was something. People were screaming, roaring, and even some people were throwing others into the air. In contrast to team flag football and homeroom flag football, the cheering was WAY better. Some events other events everyone also worked on was Family Nite and Open House. Open house was actually fun. Though we didn't do much, I got to hang out with my friends, and I even got to work in activities for some teacher's classroom! The first family Nite was actually really something. It was a bit boring but despite getting messy and stuff…at least I was helping out at the art booth! My clothes got stained while I was working. But at least I got to help people!
Highlights & Lowlights…—
Some highlights of this entire quarter are gaining lots of friends, Strictly Ill, and keeping my grades high. I’ve made A LOT of friends throughout this entire quarter. Even though I spent the first couple weeks cooped up in A101, I managed to become good friends with people in my classes outside of Leadership. In addition, Strictly Ill has just started too! My thoughts on it right now are ... well it’s pretty good. Honestly, I may get frustrated from time to time but that’s okay. I’m learning still! Plus, I'm learning to accept mistakes and not getting it on the first try. Throughout this quarter I didn’t find it difficult to keep my grades up. It might’ve gone down by small percentages but it’s still an A. I hope I continue to keep my grades up…On to my lowlights! Some lowlights of this quarter are math, drama, intramurals and expectations. In this entire quarter, I found myself struggling with math from time to time. I honestly thought I was going to fail...but I didn't luckily. I have an A still. I guess I just need more practice in order to grasp the concept. Another negative of this quarter was drama. In the middle of this quarter, there was some drama amongst my peers. I'd say this is a negative because...well I didn't like being dragged into it even though I wasn't even a part of it. My other lowlight is intramurals. As I said in the summary, intramurals felt like an oven... it was incredibly hot. Having to do that for like two weeks for an hour a day.... It wasn't bad but just annoying. I got tired of intramurals, specifically flag football, quickly. Then my final lowlight of the quarter is expectations. Because me and my friends are in leadership, all the teachers think we know EVERYTHING. Which we don’t…just because we’re in leadership doesn’t mean we know completely everything. Like on the first day, the math teacher of my team, Mrs. Chen, thought me and Alex knew the ENTIRE. campus and could lead the tour. But the whole reason for us being there was to see the tours ourselves…
Lesson learned…—
Throughout this quarter, I learned that it's important to learn from your mistakes and ask questions to avoid mistakes. At first, I brushed it off and thought that I'd just get it the first time. Easy peasy. Though majority of the time it was like that, there were times when I did the same mistake twice. For example, having my vest on me. In one of my blogs, I put that I wouldn't forget my vest but... I did. Which was a misfortune... So, I mentally beat myself up for making the same mistake that I swore to never make again twice. I also realized that asking questions is important. It's good to think ahead and figure out what questions you want to ask. For example, if there was an important event today but I didn't know what time to be there. I should ask instead of suffering in silence.
What I Look Forward to...—
After an entire quarter of being in Leadership, I've learned and did many different things. But enough about this quarter. I'm going to talk about what I look forward to in the upcoming quarter. Events I'm looking towards recognition night and talent show. I heard from the 8th graders that recognition night wasn't actually boring, but it was pretty good. They said that it was very loud...which is something I dislike but they said in a good way. Hopefully people will actually sign up since I heard that last year's talent show wasn't even a show. Another thing I have my eyes fixed on is presenting our bio cubes again. I want to see how much I improved from the beginning of first quarter. I also look forward to whatever we may be doing for intramurals next quarter. Especially when it's like the teams going against each other. Overall, this quarter has been exhausting but exhilarating. I can't wait for the next one.
